Convoy & Friends - First Thursday Art Walk
Convoy & Friends - December 2019 COVER HEADER.jpg

I’m a community organizer, which means that if you ask me to get a lineup of twenty artists, I can do it in a couple of days. That’s exactly what I did this December at Pioneer Square’s Impact Hub for First Thursday Art Walk. Including some of the most talented people I know at Convoy Coffee, we gathered them together for a celebration of creation and community. Including poets, photographers, web developers, painters, musicians, and more, the night was packed with friends and strangers who were curious about what exactly my neighbors did in their artistic lives. It was such a huge success that I expect we will hold another event like this in the future.

I was commissioned by the Pacific Northwest Ballet to design part of their set for the “Locally Sourced” production in November, 2019. Opening night was tremendously exciting - my friends and I dressed in our best clothes and clinked glasses to this huge artistic success. Collaborating with other artists was both a thrill and a challenge. We all had developed our own methods of working, and it depended on us to communicate and make the end product work for the directors and performers. I was able to witness artists in motion, in both painting and dance, all throughout the rehearsal process. Being me, I was constantly live drawing, capturing the dancers in their essence. This was one of my biggest jobs yet, and I can’t wait to do another one like it.
